Motus Theater Presents: “No Contract” – Dementia, Reflection and Writing Workshop with Kirsten Wilson

Motus Theater’s “No Contract” is a day-long workshop in Boulder that uses a two-act, one-woman performance to spark reflection and writing about dementia, caregiving, aging, and mortality. It takes place at 2590 Walnut Street, Boulder, CO 80302, led by celebrated facilitator and artist Kirsten Wilson. The day begins with a performance of Act I, followed by guided personal reflection, writing, and group discussion. Participants break for a shared lunch in small reflection groups (lunch is included in the workshop fee). The afternoon features Act II plus facilitated dialogue, writing exercises, and additional reflection. No writing experience is required—just a willingness to explore difficult, real-life questions in community. The performance centers on Wilson’s mother’s request not to endure dementia and explores the “to be or not to be” tension of assisted suicide after diagnosis. Blending autobiographical storytelling with Hamlet, King Lear, karaoke, humor, and audience engagement, it aims to hold the topic with both heart and levity. The full run of “No Contract” is 9/17/2026–10/4/2026 (Thu–Sat 7pm; Sun 2pm), with special performances on 9/30 and 10/3.
