Shared History by Chloé Duplessis

Shared History by Chloé Duplessis

Shared History is a 5-foot by 49-foot original mural created for the Center for Colorado Women’s History by Duplessis Art that presents a vision of women’s historic contributions in Colorado. Shared History celebrates the enduring impact of women across Colorado’s past and present. The mural commemorates Colorado’s mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, and leaders whose seen and unseen labor, leadership, creativity, and care helped shape their communities, the state, and the nation.

Drawing from historic photographs, maps, and archival materials from the History Colorado collection, Shared History represents women who span generations, identities, professions, and cultural backgrounds, emphasizing the richness and diversity of Colorado’s history.

Through art and historical storytelling, Shared History encourages visitors to see themselves within a broader collective narrative and to leave with a deeper understanding of women’s contributions and a stronger connection to Colorado’s shared past.

Shared History was installed at the Center for Colorado Women’s History on July 28, 2026, to commemorate the 150/250 anniversary of our state and country. The mural is produced in collaboration with the Athena Project and generously funded in part by Denver Arts and Venues - Denver CREATES fund and the National Endowment for the Arts.
