Sites of Memory

Sites of Memory is a photography exhibition at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center exploring how trauma, history, and resilience are embedded in place and carried across generations. The show runs August 7–September 19 and features work by four artists, inspired by the 2026 One Book One Denver selection. Kick things off at the free opening reception on Friday, August 7, from 5–8pm. That same night, Denver Public Library’s Central Branch (a five-minute walk away) hosts the One Book One Denver Unveiling Celebration with timed entry at 6:30pm or 8pm (registration required). On Saturday, August 8, 10am–12pm, join a free drop-in creative writing workshop with Lighthouse Writers Workshop, including time in the exhibition (registration required; space limited). On Thursday, August 20 at 4pm MDT, CPAC Executive Director/Curator Samantha Johnston leads a free virtual panel with the exhibiting artists (registration required). Visit during gallery hours: Tuesday–Friday 11am–5pm and Saturday 12–4pm. Best for art and book lovers interested in memory, place, and community conversation, with multiple ways to engage in-person and online.
