We the People: Voices of Democracy
CSU Libraries presents We the People: Voices of Democracy, a new exhibition opening September 8, 2026, in CSU’s Morgan Library. On view through January 10, 2027, the exhibition brings together bold visual works exploring the power of civic expression and the role each of us plays in shaping a more just and inclusive society.
From the founding ideals of the United States to the evolving voices of today, democracy has always been shaped by participation by those who speak, create, question, and vote. We the People: Voices of Democracy asks what it means to be heard in a democracy, inviting visitors to consider their own place within that ongoing story.
Featuring contemporary posters by artist Shepard Fairey in collaboration with Amplifier, alongside selections from CSU’s internationally recognized poster collection, The Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE), the exhibition highlights the enduring relationship between art and activism. These works transform design into a call to action, amplifying voices, challenging injustice, and affirming the dignity of all people.
Spanning decades of creative expression, the posters on view connect global perspectives with local histories, reminding visitors that democracy is not a fixed idea, but a living, evolving practice. It depends on participation. It depends on dialogue. It depends on us.
As the nation marks 250 years and Colorado marks 150 years, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on their place within this ongoing story. Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Democracy begins — and endures — with We the People.
We the People: Voices of Democracy is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs September 8 through January 10, 2027, in CSU’s Morgan Library and is part of CSU Libraries’ ongoing commitment to connecting the university’s collections with the broader Colorado community.
