About This Event
Artists on Santa Fe presents “Cacophony,” a show by member artist Kris Iltis, on view April 17 – May 11, 2026, at 747 Santa Fe Drive. The exhibition showcases her rich and riotous floral paintings created with bold brushwork and saturated bursts of color. Her artworks breathe life into a room through swaying patterns, bending pots, and an abundance of greenery among the blooms. “These paintings are not still life,” says the artist, “They are movement. They are noise. They are celebration.” The public is invited to an opening reception on Friday, April 17, 5-8 p.m., during Third Friday at the Art District on Santa Fe, the First Friday Art Walk on May 1, 5-9 p.m., and to view the show during regular gallery hours. Iltis goes on to explain, “My garden in spring is a fireworks display, an unruly bloom-song. Roses, peonies, columbine, daisies, coreopsis and forsythia rise and fall in their own time, each insisting on its moment of glory. Flowers are crammed into waiting pots, invasives torn free, and birds quietly thanked for accidental gifts sprouting where they will. I carry this floral cacophony to the canvas to hold the hope and astonishment that arrives each spring.” In addition to being a working artist, Iltis has taught painting at many art facilities in the Denver area, including the Art Students League, Denver, the PACE Center in Parker and the Curtis Center for the Arts in Greenwood Village. In addition to the scheduled exhibition, Artists on Santa Fe Gallery, 747 Santa Fe Drive, showcases the work of member artists ranging from sculptors and painters to printmakers and jewelers. The building is also home to the working studios of 25 + artists. Visitors are invited to explore and discover this exciting and enduring creative hub. Spring hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, Noon to 4 p.m. Open extended evening hours for art walks on the First and Third Friday of each month.
