About This Event
In creating Currents, I was understanding the dance of when to hold on to the way point versus letting the current and winds guide me. In my work, I explore the delicate interplay between control and surrender. Each piece reflects a balancing act, navigating the tension between holding onto our intentions and allowing the currents of life to guide us. Through this creative journey, I aim to capture the essence of movement, inviting viewers to embrace the dance between steadfastness and openness. When Abaca paper pulp is highly beaten, it creates a high shrinkage during the drying process. As the fibers dry, the paper bends and distorts in unpredictable ways. Using highly beaten abaca paper pulp in my practice allows the paper to create its own shape. My art is an invitation to reflect on the waypoints we cling to, and the freedom found in letting the winds of change shape our path.
